Assoc.Prof. Prayook Srivilai, Acting President of Mahasarakham University, led a delegation of MSU executives on a visit to Germany from May 13 to 20, 2024. The purpose of the visit was to discuss academic cooperation with leading educational and research institutions in Germany. The delegation met with administrators and toured various facilities, including:

Deutsches Primatenzentrum: The German Primate Center, focusing on primate behavior, neurobiology, and evolution research

SUB Central Library: The Central Library of the University of G?ttingen, one of the largest academic libraries in Germany

University Medical Center G?ttingen (UMG): A prominent medical treatment and research center, one of the largest university hospitals in the country

Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research: Specializing in research on astronomy, astrophysics, and planetary science

GWDG (Gesellschaft f?r wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH G?ttingen): The Society for Scientific Data Processing, providing high-performance computing services and conducting IT research

International Office: Responsible for the university?s international policies and activities

This visit aimed to foster academic collaboration, explore research partnerships, and strengthen the ties between MSU and these prestigious German institutions.

During the visit to Germany, MSU aimed to establish collaboration in the exchange of staff and students, promote educational and research cooperation, and share knowledge between MSU and German institutions. This includes joint research initiatives and projects in areas where MSU has expertise, as well as learning from the experiences of leading educational and research institutions in Germany to enhance MSU?s progress towards international standards.

Key points of collaboration discussed by the leaders of both parties included:

Personnel Collaboration: Initiating cooperation with professors to establish research connections based on mutual expertise. Creating joint proposals for funding from various sources, such as Erasmus, and extending faculty, staff, and student exchanges.

Student Collaboration: Implementing student exchange programs for durations longer than three months or a full semester to ensure adequate experience. These exchanges will be accredited to count towards the students? graduation requirements.

English-Taught Courses: Developing courses taught in English to facilitate study plans for students from the University of G?ttingen.

The University of G?ttingen is a research university located in G?ttingen, Lower Saxony, Germany. Established in 1737, it comprises 13 faculties offering 210 programs, with an enrollment of approximately 30,000 students, including around 5,000 international students.
